Your card details are encrypted and handled by Stripe. They never touch our servers, and you’re charged only when someone redeems your gift.
1.How your card is handled
When you add a card, you type it into a secure form from Stripe, our payment processor. The card number, expiry date and security code go straight from your browser to Stripe over an encrypted connection. They never pass through or get stored on our servers.
Stripe gives us a reference to the saved card. We keep only what we need to show it back to you: the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry date.
Stripe is certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider, the highest level of certification in the payments industry. You can read more in Stripe’s security overview.
2.When you’re charged
Your card won’t be charged until they redeem. Adding a card when you send a gift, create a link or turn on an automation only saves it. Nothing is charged at that point.
- A one-time gift is charged when the recipient accepts it.
- A link is charged each time someone redeems a gift from it, up to the budget you set.
- An automation is charged for each gift it sends, when that recipient redeems it.
- Cancel a gift before it’s redeemed and you’re never charged for it.
If a charge is declined when someone redeems, we let you know and hold the gift until you update your card. We never charge the recipient.
3.What recipients see
Recipients never see prices, your card or anything about how you paid. They open the gift, choose what they’d like and give a shipping address. They don’t need an account and never pay anything.
4.Managing your cards
You can see, add and remove cards on the Payment methods page (in the app under Payment Methods & Billing, or from Settings). Your default card pays for new gifts.
If you remove a card, we also remove it at Stripe so it can’t be charged again. Gifts waiting to be redeemed move to your remaining default card. You can’t remove your only card while gifts are waiting to be redeemed or automations or links are turned on, because those would have nothing to charge.
On a team, the owner’s default card is the team card. Members can send gifts on it but can’t see or change it.
5.Pro subscriptions
Pro plans and team seats are also billed through Stripe, on Stripe’s secure checkout page. You can change or cancel your plan any time from Payment Methods & Billing. See our Terms of Service for refunds.
6.Your account and data
Every page on giasgiraffes.com is served over HTTPS. Our staff can see a card’s brand and last four digits only to help with support, and never the full number. Our Privacy Policy explains everything else we collect and how we use it.
7.Questions or a security concern
If you think something is wrong with a charge, or you’ve found a security issue, email hello@giasgiraffes.com. We’ll reply quickly.
